HiV treatment and management

Please note that the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust continues to manage the treatment of patients in the Chester area with a confirmed HIV positive result. 

Those with a  confirmed HIV positive result living in the Vale Royal / South Cheshire area are managed by the Royal Liverpool University Hospital via a weekly clinic held at Leighton Hospital in Crewe. The Countess appointments line can be reached via 01244 362000. The Royal Liverpool / Leighton clinic appointments line is 0151 706 3474.

Please note: we have several clinics running at the same time – it may therefore appear that some patients are being seen out of turn.

Saturday drop in clinics - a nurse led service, we are unable to see:

  • Implant removals, coil fits, smears
  • Medication for delaying periods – please seek advice form your GP
  • PEP, abdominal pain, testicular pain, urinary infections – please attend A&E or GP Out of Hours

Test & Go appointments - available for patients without symptoms who are happy to have a full screen without seeing a doctor/nurse.

Medication for delaying periods is not given in the Contraception & Sexual Health clinic – please seek advice from your GP
